Emergency services frequently rely on the METHANE acronym to structure reports during major incidents. Although the format is widely taught and appears straightforward, recalling and applying it correctly under real-time pressure remains a challenge for many responders. This difficulty can result in the crucial METHANE message not being communicated promptly, potentially delaying an adequately scaled emergency response.
Prometheus IMT METHANE offers an approach designed to be intuitive, simple, and quick to use, aiming to enhance the reliability of message construction during critical incidents. In addition, it supports the creation of ETHANE messages within complex or lower-tier incidents, where core information remains essential.
Developed by highly experienced emergency responders who recognize the difficulty of maintaining fluency with the METHANE format under stress, this tool addresses a clear operational need. We believe that other teams share these challenges and may benefit from such a solution. We welcome feedback to help improve its effectiveness and usability.
